Emirates gets 2012 off to a flying start with first ever global sale

Emirates is celebrating the New Year by offering exceptional discounts on airfares to more than 100 cities, when booking from now until 9 January 2012.

Customers can save up to 25 percent off all published First Class, Business Class and Economy Class fares departing between 22 January and 30 June 2012, when travelling round-trip to any destination on Emirates’ extensive global network.

PATA Cambodia Chapter is Off to a Good Start

The PATA Cambodia Chapter conducted a seminar for tourism students of Norton University. The aim of the seminar was to raise awareness amongst students studying tourism to have a better understanding of the industry, what is PATA and its stand in the industry, PATA’s relevance to Cambodia and learn more about where it would be in the future.

PATA Cambodia Chapter Secretary General Sophea Sok presented about PATA and its stand in the industry, and PATA Cambodia Chapter Chairman Sinan Thourn presented about tourism development in Cambodia, sharing his experience in the industry to the students and inspiring them to work hard and be more active in the industry for their future and the future of tourism development in their country.

FAA Clears Next Generation Santa One for Takeoff

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety inspectors have given the thumbs-up for the reindeer-powered sleigh known as Santa One to fly on Christmas Eve so Santa Claus can deliver presents to children around the world. The approval came after a thorough inspection of the aircraft at the North Pole.

“The satellite-based technology the elves have installed on Santa One will ensure that Santa stays safe and reaches all of his rooftops on time,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. “As a result of this improved technology, Santa will be able to deliver more presents to more children around the world.”

Santa One, which will cruise at an altitude of 50,000 feet – far higher than commercial aircraft – will be able to fly faster, more efficient routes from cruising altitude to rooftops.

Oman Air appoints new General Manager Customer Services

Oman Air has announced the appointment of Saleem Bin Amanullah Bin Abdul Hussain to the new role of General Manager Customer Services. He will be based at the airline’s headquarters in Muscat and will spearhead Oman Air’s drive for the highest quality in all direct customer contact.

Mr Amanulla was appointed following a 23-year career in aviation, most recently as Chief Executive Officer – Cargo for RAS-ENT, a Canadian GSA based in Toronto. Prior to this, he held a number of positions with Gulf Air, including Head of Airports. In addition, Mr Amanulla holds Airline Pilot and Flight Dispatch certification from AFDTC in Dallas.

Thomas Cook India's Centre of Learning and Canadian Tourism Commission tie up for Canada destination training

GOL Airlines issues notice to shareholders

GOL  informed  its shareholders and to the public, in continuity to the Material Fact disclosed on December 07,2011, that its Board of Directors, at a meeting held on December 21, 2011, approved an increase in the capital stock of the Company.

The Capital Increase is part of the Company’s capitalization transaction, through indirect investment by Delta Air Lines, Inc. (“Delta”), with the acquisition of 8,300,455 preferred shares in form of ADS of the Company, with the issue price fixed at R$22.00. Preemptive rights shall be also granted to the all GOL´s shareholders.

Dubai Airports Invites Bids from Advertising Companies for Concourse 3

Dubai Airports is inviting advertising companies to submit expressions of interest to be awarded the official concessionaire for the upcoming Concourse 3 at Dubai International.

This follows Dubai Airports’ invitation to food and beverage companies and service operators in September earlier this year.
Commenting on the announcement, Eugene Barry, Senior Vice President – Commercial, Dubai Airports, said: “We have seen significant developments in advertising performance in 2011, and considering Dubai International’s status as a global hub with a unique user profile, and as one of the world’s top five busiest airports, the case for continued growth is compelling. This represents a tremendous opportunity.”

Tasting Australia to take place in Adelaide

The eighth biennial Tasting Australia is set to take place from 26 April to 3 May, 2012 in Adelaide, South Australia. The food and wine festival showcases the best that Australia has to offer in produce, culinary talent, food products, wines and beers, hospitality and tourism. The 2012 event will feature international foodie celebrities such as UK restaurateur Mark Hix, New Zealand chef Martin Bosley and British brewers Tony Hadley and Richard Fox.

Certain regions of Christchurch likely to be rezoned

More parts of Christchurch’s eastern suburbs may being deemed beyond salvation after Friday’s earthquakes, stated mayor Bob Parker. Speaking to the media he said that the new quakes may prompt the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority to alter the zoning of Parklands
